Mark: Let's go for a hike tomorrow.

마크: 내일 하이킹 가자.

Don: I'm not sure I can.

단: 갈 수 있을지 모르겠는데.

Mark: You're wife won't let you?

마크: 집사람이 못 가게 하는 거야?

Don: I promised her I would set aside Sunday to help her.

단: 일요일 날을 잡아서 도와주기로 약속했거든.

Mark: You can't get away for an hour or two?

마크: 1 2 시간도 못 나와?

Don: I promised her the whole day and I'm sticking to my promise.

단: 하루 종일 도와주겠다고 약속했고 그 약속 지킬 거야.

Mark: I've never known you to turn down a hike.

마크: 네가 하이킹을 거부할 줄은 전혀 몰랐다.

Don: There is a first time for everything.

단: 뭐든지 다 처음이 있는 거야.

Mark: You must be getting old.

마크: 너도 늙는구나.

Don: I'm also getting smarter.

단: 더 현명해지는 것이기도 하지.

*get away: (어떤 장소를) 떠나다, 벗어나다.

*stick to (a decision or promise): (결정이나 약속을) 고수하다, 지키다.

“I told you I would be there and I stick to my word.”

(거기로 간다고 말했으니까 약속 지킬 거야.)

*turn down: 거절하다. 거부하다.

“She turned down my invitation to dance.”

(그녀에게 댄스 파티에 오라고 초대했는데 안 오겠대.)
