Bart: Why didn't you show up last night? I waited at the restaurant for thirty minutes.

바트: 어젯밤 왜 안 왔어? 식당에서 30분을 기다렸는데.

Kevin: My car broke down.

케빈: 차가 고장 났어.

Bart: Again? What happened this time?

바트: 또? 이번엔 도 무슨 일이야?

Kevin: My engine stalled on the way.

케빈: 오는 길에 엔진이 멎었어.

Bart: Have you thought about getting a new car?

바트: 새 차 사는 건 생각해봤어?

Kevin: Of course. But I can't afford it.

케빈: 당연하지. 한데 여유가 안 돼.

Bart: Then get a good used one.

바트: 그럼 괜찮은 중고차를 사.

Kevin: I'm not sure that's a good idea.

케빈: 그건 좋은 생각이 아니야.

Bart: Well you can't keep driving that piece of junk.

바트: 그렇다고 저 고물차를 계속 몰고 다닐 수는 없잖아.

Kevin: I know you're right. I'll start looking this afternoon.

케빈: 네 말이 맞긴 하지. 오늘 오후부터 차를 보러 다니기 시작해야겠다.

*show up: 나타나다. 오다.

“If she shows up late this time, I’m not going to wait for her.” (그녀가 이번에도 늦게 오면 안 기다릴 거야.)

*break down: 고장나다.

“The elevator broke down, so we walked up the stairs.” (엘리베이터가 고장 나서 우린 계단으로 올라갔어.)
