Don: It's Tim's birthday present.
단: 팀 생일 선물이야.
Ellie: Where are you going to hide it?
엘리: 어디에 숨기려고?
Don: I was hoping you could shed some light on that.
단: 당신한테 좋은 생각 없어.
Ellie: I don't know but you should get it out of sight. He'll be home from school soon.
엘리: 잘 모르겠지만 눈에 안 띄는 곳에 둬야지. 팀 곧 학교 끝나고 올 거야.
Don: I'll put it in the garage.
단: 차고에 놓을게.
Ellie: Just make sure he can't see it.
엘리: 팀 눈에 안 띄는 곳에 둬.
Don: That's a silly thing to say.
단: 그거 참 이상한 말이네.
Ellie: What do you mean?
엘리: 무슨 말이야?
Don: Do you think I would put it where he could see it on purpose?
단: 내가 일부러 팀이 볼 수 있는 데 두기라도 할 것 같아?
▶out of sight: 눈에 안 띄는.
“I watched the airplane until it was out of sight.”
(난 안 보일 때까지 비행기를 쳐다봤어.)
▶make sure: 꼭, 반드시. 확인하다.
“I made sure to turn off the lights.”
(난 불을 껐는지 확인했어.)
▶on purpose: 일부러, 의도적으로.
“Hey! You wanted to hit me. You hit me on purpose. It was no accident.”
(이봐! 당신이 날 때리려고 했잖아. 고의로 날 쳤다고. 사고가 아니라고.)
